Created by a decree of the 23rd May 1989, this "Appellation"
comprises the former "Appellations" of Cheilly les
Maranges, Dezize les Maranges and Sampigny les Maranges. Although
the area is situated in the Saône et Loire, the wines
in the Maranges "Appellation" are an integral part
of Côte de Beaune.
Grown on deep chalky clay, the wines are often very fragrant
recalling red berries mixed with floral notes. Structured
and firm, fleshy and strong, they are well rounded and fruity.
