The Two main grape varieties in Burgundy
Unlike many winemaking regions, one of the peculiarities of Burgundy is the almost total absence of blends of several grape varieties. Two main grape varieties are found in Burgundy: Pinot Noir (red wine) and Chardonnay (white wine).
Two other grape varieties are also cultivated, in particular at the regional appellation level: Gamay for red wines and Aligoté for white wines.
